Over the last year, we have been sharing history about some of the former illegal casinos across the United States.
Additionally, we have listed many of our illegal casino chips for sale on our website.
One of the biggest illegal casino cities in America was Hot Springs, Arkansas. The Belvedere Club was one of the most prominent casinos in the city. It opened in 1935. Aside from the gaming, it also had one of the best nightclubs in the South. After an ownership change in the 1940s, it became a private country club. It was open to the public during racing season.
Reportedly, Al Capone’s relatives frequented the Belvedere Club. During his time in Hot Springs, Al Capone was known to be a generous tipper. His time in the Arkansas city was reportedly peaceful.
Today, if you visit Hot Springs, there is a museum about the
history of the mafia. The Gangster Museum of America will take you back to the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s when illegal casinos were a big part of Hot Springs.
This weekend, we have listed a bunch of chips from the Belvedere Club on our website for sale. Additionally, there are also a few from the Yorkshire Club in Kentucky for purchase. It was also an illegal casino.
