The Palms Casino Resort broke ground in July 2000 the construction took fifteen months finishing on September 26, 2001, and the Palms Casino Resort officially opened its doors on November 15, 2001, to a massive crowd and multiple invited celebrities, such as Dennis Rodman, Pamela Anderson, and Samuel L. Jackson.
Although the Palms Casino Resort is located off the Las Vegas Strip it has become one of the most popular casinos in Las Vegas and has attracted many Hollywood actors, celebrities, and sports stars.
The Palms Casino Resort was the location of MTV's The Real World: Las Vegas in 2002. After the television program finished filming at the Palms the suits built for the reality TV show were converted into the "Real World Suite" billed at $10,000 per night. The Palms has also been featured in music videos by Katy Perry, Eminem, and Britney Spears.
In 2006 a second tower was built, named the "Fantasy Tower" that includes one of the most expensive suites in Las Vegas; a 10,000 square foot suite that includes a basketball court, locker room, scoreboard and multi-screen entertainment system.
In 2010 the Palms fell into financial problems and started missing loan payments. These financial problems plagued the hotel till the end of 2011 when an agreement was made eliminating nearly $400 million in debt the hotel owed.
This last May 2016, it was announced that Red Rock Resorts Inc., the parent company of the Station Casinos acquired the Palms Resort Casino for over $300 million dollars. Las Vegas locals and visitors alike anxiously look to the future to see if the Palms Casino Resort will adopt the "Station" name so ubiquitous to the many other properties owned by Red Rock Resorts Inc.
