A little bit of history of Deadwood and how gambling came to be there. "Legalized gambling came to Deadwood in November of 1989. In the fall of 1988, South Dakota had approved a constitutional amendment to allow limited-stakes blackjack, poker and slot machines in Deadwood. The reasoning or idea behind that was to raise money to preserve Deadwood's historic, but aging architecture and unique Western character. The amendment won with a 64% of the vote." Deadwood is known to have some hard to find chips along with some relatively common chips as well. Many of the Paulsons feature amazing beautiful edge spot combinations as seen below that make them more desirable for collectors. Today, Deadwood still has casinos open up and down Main Street for those that would like to visit and play.
