There is more to Nevada than just Las Vegas

When most people think of Nevada they automatically think of the glitz and glamour of the Las Vegas Strip.  Some will also recall Reno "The Biggest Little Town in America." There are also towns that trace their origins to the 'Old West' or the Silver Mining heydays of Nevada's past.  Nevada is also firmly rooted in the present, Fallon Nevada is the current home of the U.S. Navy's Fighter Weapon School also known as "Top Gun" since it moved from Miramar, California to Fallon, Nevada in 1996.

Alamo Club $1.00 Chip

Alamo Club, Pinoche Nevada

Pinoche Nevada was first settled in 1864 as a Silver Mining Town.  Some of the aerial tramways used to carry silver ore and can still be seen spanning parts of the town.

The Alamo Club was opened in 1948 and closed in 1969.

Bucket of Blood, Virginia City, Nevada

Virginia City was founded in 1859 as a boom town with the discovery of the Comstock Lode.  Virginia City is also the "birthplace" of Mark Twain.  Samuel Clemens first used his famous pen name while working at the Territorial Enterprise newspaper in Virginia City.

The Bucket of Blood Saloon opened in 1876 and remains open to this day.
Barrel House 

Barrel House, Fallon, Nevada

Fallon Nevada was founded in 1896 and is one of the towns along the "Loneliest Highway in America."  It is in the agricultural heart of Nevada.  In 1996 the roar of jet engines dominated the air as the U.S. Navy's Fighter Weapons School, a.k.a. Top Gun, moved from its previous home in Miramar, California to Fallon. The Barrel House Casino called Fallon home from 1935 - 1952.  Chips from this casino are the perfect edition for any collector.
